Petition: The Dutch government: freeze relations with Israel!<\/h3>\n

Inspired by the recent call to action by more than 70 former ambassadors, hundreds of civil servants, doctors, and lawyers – all professionals who are fully committed to The Netherlands and stand for a just world – we, as concerned citizens, petition for the following:<\/p>\n

We call for the Dutch government and parliament to uphold the constitution upon which its rule of law is based. Article 90 of the Dutch constitution states that the government must uphold international law. The Dutch government is negligent in its duty to uphold international law and to protect the rights of Palestinian civilians who are the victims of Israeli war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.<\/p>\n

Following the horrific violence of October 7, Israel’s collective punishment of the population of Gaza by means of mass starvation and the bombing of hospitals, civil infrastructure, churches, mosques, and innocent civilians is a most grave violation of international law.<\/p>\n

The time of looking the other way is over. Israel must be reprimanded for its actions and there must be consequences for its serious and ongoing violations of international law. The Netherlands must freeze its economic, cultural, and military relations with Israel and undertake explicit diplomatic measures to this effect as long as Israel refuses to act in accordance with international law.<\/p>\n

Every day The Netherlands continues to look the other way is a day of complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity. The time to act is now!<\/p>\n

Petitie: Nederlandse regering: bevries de relaties met Isra\u00ebl!<\/h3>\n

Ge\u00efnspireerd door de recente oproepen van meer dan 70 Nederlandse oud-ambassadeurs, vele honderden ambtenaren, artsen en advocaten – allen professionals die zich met hart en ziel inzetten voor Nederland en voor een rechtvaardige wereld \u2013 pleiten wij, bezorgde burgers, voor het volgende:<\/p>\n

Wij roepen de Nederlandse regering en het parlement op om de grondwet, die de basis is voor onze rechtsstaat, in alle ernst na te leven. Artikel 90 van de grondwet stelt dat de regering de ontwikkeling van de internationale rechtsorde moet bevorderen. De Nederlandse regering verzaakt deze plicht ten aanzien van de bescherming van de rechten van Palestijnse burgers die slachtoffer zijn van Isra\u00eblische oorlogsmisdaden in Gaza en de Westelijke Jordaanoever.<\/p>\n

De collectieve bestraffing voor het gruwelijke geweld van 7 oktober, door de bevolking van de Gaza strook uit te hongeren, ziekenhuizen, civiele infrastructuur, kerken, moskee\u00ebn en onschuldige burgers te bombarderen is een grove schending van het internationale recht.<\/p>\n

De tijd van wegkijken is voorbij. Isra\u00ebl dient niet alleen meer gewaarschuwd te worden maar er dienen ook consequenties verbonden te worden aan de voortdurende ernstige schendingen van het internationaal recht. Nederland dient de economische, culturele en militaire relaties met Isra\u00ebl te bevriezen en expliciete diplomatieke maatregelen te nemen zolang Isra\u00ebl weigert te handelen naar het internationaal recht.<\/p>\n

Iedere dag wegkijken is een dag van medeplichtigheid. Actie is n\u00fa geboden!<\/p>\n
