Movies That Matter Ideation 2020 Cancelled due to Corona
MTM Ideation Session 2020 – Cancelled due to Corona
Conform to the Dutch government’s regulations regarding the Covid-19 outbreak, the Movies that Matter Festival 2020 has been cancelled. Therefore, our event has also been cancelled. We kindly direct you to the official Statement by Movies that Matter below.
We were so looking forward to welcoming our Human Rights Defenders and Activists from Vietnam, China and Israel. At this time of uncertainty, we do not know if future remote collaboration will be possible. However, we are open to the idea of remote collaboration and and will assess our opportunities in April. Thank you so much for your interest in our event. We greatly appreciate your support and enthusiasm and we hope to welcome you to the Movies That Matter Ideation Sessions in the near future.
Official Movies that Matter Statement
Following the guidelines of the Dutch government regarding the global Covid-19 outbreak we decided to cancel the 2020 edition of the Movies that Matter Festival, from 20 to 28 March in The Hague. The health and safety of our guests, audience and the festival team are our key priority. Meeting and dialogue are key elements of our festival. As such we are currently not considering to organise online alternatives.
Unfortunately, postponing our festival is not an option, given the substantial programming of films in combination with international guests and the insecure situation regarding the virus.
In case you already bought a ticket, you can reclaim the costs, by sending an email, including proof of payment, to info@moviesthatmatter.nl
With a very heavy heart we unfortunately have no other choice than to cancel this edition of our annual festival. We prepared a fantastic film programme, with many premieres, impressive guests and human rights activists. This is a huge disappointment for everyone, but we understand and respect the decision of the authorities.
We hope to welcome you at the next Movies that Matter Festival, from 19 to 28 March 2021.
Going Beyond the Films…
In collaboration with the Movies That Matter Festival, The Hague Hacks have prepared a space and a method for Activists and Human Rights Defenders to go beyond their films, unpack the human rights challenges that they are facing, and identify potential tech-solutions for these activists and human rights defenders to effect change in their countries of origin. This year, human rights defenders and activists from Vietnam, China, and Israel will present their movie and share the challenges they face with you in this multi-disciplinary Ideation session.
This year’s films for the Movies That Matter Ideation Session are:
In this brief but intense brainstorming session, we seek to identify potential tech-solutions for these activists and human rights defenders to effect change in their countries of origin. We hope that the networks and ideas created during the session will live on so that concrete actions and innovations can grow from this highly informative and entertaining day.
This event is invitation only. If you believe that you have an expertise that can positively contribute to these discussions, please email haguehacks[at]thehaguepeace.org.
